Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Ready in 5 minutes after one quick whiz in the food processor!
  • A huge hit on game day – or any time you need an easy appetizer.
  • Jazz it up with different toppings or dipping accoutrements.
  • It will be love after first bite!

Recipe Ingredients

This whipped feta dip recipe requires nothing more than a block of feta cheese and a few pantry staples. We will need:

  • feta cheese block – look for a whole block of briny feta typically sold near the cheese section of grocery stores. Many imported, high quality Greek feta blocks will be made from sheep’s milk or goat’s milk, or a combination of the two.
  • yogurt – go for plain and full-fat Greek yogurt or Skyr yogurt for richness, texture and tang. You can also swap it out for sour cream or cream cheese instead.
  • extra virgin olive oil – use a fruity extra-virgin olive oil and make sure to have additional olive oil for finishing.
  • garlic – one garlic clove goes a long way. Feel free to omit if you are not a garlic lover, or increase for even more flavor.
  • lemon juice – for a hint of lemon flavor.
  • red pepper flakes – to kick up the spice and add some heat.
  • honey – optional, but a drizzle of honey adds a hint of sweetness.
  • parsley – for garnish and to make for an eye-catching presentation. Up the fresh herbs with fresh basil, fresh dill, tarragon, mint or chives.
  • bread, pita, crackers – go all out and serve with crusty bread, warm pita bread, pita chips, pretzels or crackers.
  • vegetables – serve with an array of fresh vegetables like cut-up carrots, celery, red peppers, radishes and cherry tomatoes.

How to Make Feta Dip

Creamy feta dip is only a few moments away after a quick pulse in the food processor. Here’s how to do it:

Add Ingredients to Food Processor

Combine feta, yogurt, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, and red pepper flakes to your food processor bowl, fitted with the S blade.

Pulse Until Creamy

Pulse until creamy and a fluffy dip emerges, scraping the sides of the processor bowl once or twice.

Taste Test

Add more red pepper flakes or lemon juice, if desired. If you want a hint of sweetness, drizzle in some honey.

Garnish with parsley and olive oil just before serving.

Fun Topping Ideas

Looking to truly make this feta dip your own? I like to think of this whipped feta dip as a blank canvas of sorts. Try any and all of the following toppings:

  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Lemon zest
  • Red pepper flakes and / or cracked black pepper
  • Honey or hot honey
  • Fresh herbs, like basil, dill, parsley, mint, chives, scallions
  • Sesame seeds – for fun crunch factor!

How to Serve Feta Dip

With an endless amount of serving options, you can really have fun with this creamy feta dip. I like to serve it in a shallow bowl so there’s more surface area for dipping.

Here are some suggestions:

  • Bread + Crackers: Go all out with a crusty bread like sourdough or baguette, warm pita bread, artisan crackers or water crackers, pretzels and pita chips.
  • Veggie Platter: Cut up fresh vegetables like celery, carrots, cucumbers, radishes, bell peppers, endive or whatever else you fancy. The colorful plate will add to the presentation!
  • Charcuterie Board: Make this creamy dip the center piece on your next charcuterie board, alongside plenty of meat and cheese.

TIP: If you make the dip ahead of time, remove from the fridge 20-30 minutes before serving to take some of the chill off, and for a creamier bite.

How to Store & Make Ahead

Leftover feta dip will keep in an airtight container or tightly covered with plastic wrap in the fridge for up to 5 days. Makes a wonderful sandwich spread for weekday lunches, too!

Make Ahead: Feta dip can also be made 1-2 days in advance. When ready to serve, give it another quick pulse in the food processor or whip it for 1-2 minutes in an electric stand mixer to bring it back to a fluffy consistency.

Recipe Tips & Notes:

Go for a block of feta. Instead of buying crumbled feta, which contains extra ingredients to prevent clumping, purchase a whole block of feta. It will add richness and a super special briny flavor. Trust me – it makes all the difference!

Use full-fat yogurt. This is best for both taste and texture.

The dip will thicken in the refrigerator. Bring it back to life with a quick whisk or whip in a stand mixer. Add 1-2 tablespoons more yogurt to loosen, if necessary.

SO easy, SO delicious! I had to slightly modify the recipe because I only had 6oz of feta and I didn’t have any lemons or lemon juice. I simply reduced the recipe slightly, subbed the garlic clove + lemon juice for a fermented honey garlic puree I had made that had a similar flavor profile to a garlic/lemon combo, and it worked GREAT! I made this to add to our baked chicken breast tonight, but I’m also super excited to have this with crackers or use it as a spread for toast.

This was quite tart. I had to add more than a drizzle of honey and also added some herbs. Can’t say I would make this again without a lot of doctoring.

Hi Roxanne, thanks for taking the time to leave a review. I’m curious to know what kind of feta you used. Whether it was low fat or potentially a lesser quality? Everyone’s taste buds are different though so it could be that you prefer it slightly sweeter, which also works 🙂

I used plain, non-fat Greek yogurt and the flavor was still great! Drizzled with Tupelo honey, garnished with fresh parsley & sprinkled with more red pepper flakes. Served with naan and seeded crackers for both textures and offered hot honey as an option on the side! Will definitely make again!

I’ve made this recipe three times and am coming back again for a ladies night. Last time I added honey and it was amazing. If you like olives, consider adding sliced kalamata olives as a garnish or on the side.

This was so easy and turned out really well, even with fat-free Greek yogurt. I added lemon zest + juice to make it super-lemony. I’ll definitely make this again.

It was a little bland for me. My husband liked it. I drizzled honey, chopped parsley, and orange zest on top. Also added more hot pepper flakes. It also ended up with a lot of moisture on the edges.
