Recipe Ingredients
This cheesecake overnight oats recipe is made with a handful of simple ingredients easy to find at grocery stores. We will need:
- cottage cheese – look for small curds cottage cheese with 2% or 4% milkfat for the best flavor. Good Culture, Organic Valley, Nancy’s, and Friendship Dairies are all great brands. If you prefer dairy free, replace the cottage cheese with an equal amount of plant-based Greek yogurt and add 3 tablespoons dairy free cream cheese for the same cheesecake flavor.
- milk of choice – use regular whole milk or your favorite non-dairy milk such as oat milk, almond milk, cashew milk, soy milk, or coconut milk.
- pure maple syrup – add a little bit of extra sweetness with a natural sweetener like maple syrup. Honey would also work.
- fresh berries – pick up a clamshell of the brightest strawberries, then Wash the Berries the Right Way, stem, and quarter them before measuring. Or, swap the strawberries out for fresh blueberries, blackberries, or raspberries.
- vanilla bean powder – vanilla bean powder is my new favorite ingredient and can be found in the baking aisle or online. Or, simply swap it out for pure vanilla extract instead.
- old fashioned oats – you have the option to use rolled oats or quick cooking oats, depending on your desired texture. Old-fashioned rolled oats will be chewy while quick oats will be soft and creamy. Make sure to use Certified gluten-free oats for gluten-free recipe.
- chia seeds – for extra fiber, nutrients, and all those healthy fats including omega-3’s.
- fun toppings – I love finishing off each bowl of oats with blueberries, strawberries, and grahams crackers to give it the cheesecake appeal. A drizzle of honey and some lemon zest are delicious, too.

Best Tips for Selecting Fresh Berries
When shopping for fresh strawberries and blueberries at the grocery store, make sure to look for these things:
- Fo strawberries: They should have bright green caps, a natural shine, and be a bright red color.
- For blueberries: Look for even dark blue color, a dry exterior with a slight frost (called bloom) and plump, smooth skin.
Step-By-Step Instructions
These berry cheesecake overnight oats takes less than 5 minutes to whiz together. The key is to allow the oats to soak for at least two hours. But trust me, your patience will be rewarded. Here’s how to do it:
Blend Berry Base
In a high-powered blender, add cottage cheese, milk, maple syrup, strawberries, and vanilla powder. Blend until smooth, about 20 seconds.
Make Oatmeal Mixture
Pour mixture into a large bowl (about 4 cup capacity) and add oats and chia seeds. Stir until combined.

Soak & Chill
Cover the oatmeal mixture with a lid or plastic wrap. Place in refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight.

Serving Suggestions
Strawberry cheesecake overnight oats can be enjoyed as a healthful breakfast, afternoon snack, or indulgent dessert. Any way you choose to enjoy, here are my best serving suggestions:
- Breakfast / Snack: Scoop the oat mixture into bowls and top with extra berries and maple syrup.
- Dessert: If you want to achieve the same buttery graham cracker crust as cheesecake, crush graham crackers and add to the bottom of your jars. Evenly distribute overnight oats mixture into the jars, layering in berries and more graham cracker crumbs in an even layer.
- Meal Prep: Portion into 4 small jars or meal prep containers. Finish with toppings just before enjoying.

Storing Overnight Oats
Leftover cottage cheese overnight oats can be refrigerated in a large airtight container for up to 5 days, or individual meal prep containers.
The mixture will thicken the longer it sits, so feel free to give it a splash of milk to bring it back to its original consistency.
