If you’ve been interested in using coconut flour in your kitchen, but don’t know where to start I’ve rounded up some ideas for you…

What’s so great about coconut flour?

dietary fiber

lower glycemic index vs traditional wheat flour

good source of protein

healthy fats

gluten-free

Basically it’s nutritional profile is awesome, which I LOVE. I love using nutritious ingredients in my healthy baking endeavors. You get to enjoy some satisfying sweets plus you’re getting in some healthy foods. It’s a win-win in my book.

But traditional BAKERS BEWARE. Coconut flour is NOT, I repeat IS NOT, to be subbed 1:1 with traditional wheat flour. It is actually MUCH more absorbent than traditional wheat flours. I highly suggest using a recipe already calling for coconut flour. If you’re feeling ambitious and want to make some substitutions in a recipe that doesn’t already call for coconut flour, be prepared to increase the liquid, or up the number of eggs. I’ve read in several different articles that for every one cup of coconut flour, you will need SIX eggs. I know that sounds like a ton, but that is how different coconut flour properties are!

Alright, so if you just want to get down to business using recipes already calling for coconut flour, I’ve gathered some ideas out there to help get you started on baking with coconut flour. AND because I want you to give coconut flour a try, I’m teaming up with NOW Foods over on Instagram to give away a bag of coconut flour to TWO lucky readers!

Coconut flour is a funny funny thing. Obviously for me, it is not my favorite in anyway since I don’t use eggs. Things can get a bit tricky, but there are ways around that!
