Manitoba Harvest Hemp Heart Bars Review + your chance to win a free box!
Hey friends! I’m back with my friends Manitoba Harvest as a part of the Sweat Pink community, to share some delicious new snack bars with you…
You all know how much I love snack bars, yes? Especially ones that are made with simple ingredients and full of nutrition. While I’m always a big fan of homemade snacks, sometimes a lot of the time convenience trumps motivation for DIY, amiright? Or maybe the grocery store doesn’t have all the ingredients you needed for a recipe you saw that you just HAD to try (i.e. these bars, shameless plug). Or perhaps you just don’t feel like making your own. It’s cool, I get it.
But how does one go about choosing a good, healthy snack bar? There are SO many bars out there to choose from these days. How do you know when you’re choosing one that isn’t filled with a bunch of nonsense? Well I’m here to take some of the guesswork out for you. I am self-proclaimed snack bar connoisseur (just made that up, go with it). If I am in the packaged snack bar section at the store, you can bet I’ll be standing there for least 10 minutes checking all the labels, muttering to myself as to why companies think it’s necessary to use artificial ingredients… This is why I go grocery shopping by myself, mind you. I would never get away reading so many labels if the husband were along… moving on.
Manitoba Harvest Hemp Heart Bars
These Manitoba Harvest Hemp Heart Bars 100% pass the test for simple, all natural, healthy, wholesome, nutritious. Not to mention they actually taste GREAT. I honestly can’t believe they taste so good, for just being hemp heart based. Plus there is NO soy in the ingredients, and they’re vegan! All the flavors are awesome. The vanilla is simple, but right on. The chocolate, great for getting in that (healthy) chocolate fix (no, sorry it doesn’t taste like a candy bar), and the apple cinnamon has a lovely spice to it. I think I need blueberry next… hint hint 😉
For those of you that don’t know, hemp hearts are the shelled part of the hemp seed, and contain essential fatty acids Omega 6 & 3, are a complete plant protein (yay for vegans!) and also contain a good amount of fiber. What’s so great about these bars is that you can get all of the nutrition found in hemp hearts in one convenient bar that is easy on the taste buds. In each bar there are 10 grams of protein (I couldn’t believe it), and about 15 grams of healthy fats. Notice I described fats as HEALTHY. Yes, it’s true. Can we all stop with the low fat packaged foods PUHLEEZE?! Sorry, mini rant.

Good luck, and enjoy the weekend friends! I went to the store yesterday to prepare for a potential snow storm this weekend. I was missing a few key ingredients for recipe testing this weekend, so I had no choice but to join all the other crazies out there and stock up on some essentials. If you’re in the east coast area, stay warm and safe out there!

Ooooo! Those bars sound delish! Any chance they’re gluten-free? And I’m totally the crazy label reader in the grocery store too. But so worth the funny looks to know what you’re putting into your body 😉
Ashley says
I believe they are Leah! The ingredients list hemp hearts, coconut sugar, brown rice syrup, vanilla, pectin, sunfflower oil, and rosemary extract. They don’t label them as certifffied gluten-free though. << p.s. I know I just spelled that word wrong but my f key is doing some crazy things! I can't ffigure it out! << see?! Two F's. Just wanted to share that... lol.

I haven’t been into bars lately, and go for either yogurt, fruit, or…another meal hahaha. But I’d try this, for sure!

Lol I feel ya! I go through spurts too. But lately I’ve been lacking on the homemade front, so these bars were perfect this past week! Thanks, Jess 🙂

They’re such a great change to the traditional protein bar. I need to get some more! And yes, we stayed safe (and inside) and I got my workout in today by shoveling for about an hour! The driveway was up to my waist and the snow plow pile to my HEAD. :-p
