Well hey there. Been a while since one of these posts. But it feels good to be back! I can tell you that everything I saw these past couple weeks I would always think “Oh! Friday Link Lovin’! I need to share!” So some things are from this week, while others are from the week before that I really wanted to share with you guys.
So I took a break over the Thanksgiving holiday and then last Friday was NATIONAL COOKIE DAY. It only felt right to share one of my favorite cookie recipes with you that day. Then somehow I missed National Brownie Day on Wednesday but made up for it with these brownies I posted yesterday 😉
So what has been happening these past couple weeks? Let’s get started >>
FITNESS Link Lovin’ ::
Hardcore HIIT with Weights >> Chrissa from Physical Kitchness put together an awesome looking workout incorporating light handweights with some basic movements targeting your whole body! Plus, this girl cracks me up on the daily. Just read her post and you’ll see why. ?
Dealing with Forced Rest without Going Crazy (without going crazy) >> Susie from Suzlyfe gives us some insight on how to approach forced rest. i.e. You have an injury and you’re forced to take a break from training. Whether that be running, lifting, or just keeping up with your overall fitness activity. Forced rest can be tough. Especially for people that have been training for so long. But Susie reminds us it WILL BE OKAY. Your body needs to rest in order to recover.
3 x 5 AMRAP Hamstring and Glute Workout >> Beverly at Sweaty and Fit just got back from a trip to Bali (which looked AMAZING btw) and is sharing a super awesome AMRAP (As Many Reps As Possible) workout. Guys, if you haven’t tried this style of workout, it is GREAT for pushing yourself. You set a timer and try to beat that clock. Personally, I love it for both the sweaty challenge and the mental challenge. Give it a try! ?
RECIPE Link Lovin’ ::
Chewy Almond Butter Chocolate Sandwich Cookies >> Michele at Paleo Running Mama put together this epic creation. She made cookies using almond butter, then put almond butter in the filling. HELLO. Need I say more?
How to Cook Oatmeal with an Egg in the Microwave >> Lindsay at Lean Green Bean has a pretty awesome idea of getting in that boost of protein (and healthy fats) by adding an egg to your oatmeal. I’ve only just started getting into oatmeal again (I know, call me crazy) but just having oats in the morning is barely enough to hold me over all morning. But adding an egg in with the oatmeal? Genius! Can’t wait to give this a try.
Vegan Breakfast Sandwich >> Georgie from In It 4 The Long Run threw me a curve ball on this one. You can have a VEGAN BREAKFAST sandwich? I guess when you’re not a vegan, a breakfast sandwich more often than not includes an egg. So how does a vegan eat a breakfast sandwich without an egg? Well, Georgie has got you covered. This combo sounds AMAZING.
A Delicious Homemade Gift for the Holidays: Gingersnap Granola >> Carly at FitLiving has got the CUTEST handmade tags and homemade granola recipe on her blog. Free handmade gift tags you can download, plus a delicious looking granola recipe. Who doesn’t love handmade and TASTY gifts during the holiday season??
RANDOM Link Lovin’ ::
5 Reasons to Get Outside During the Workday >> Rachel from A Healthful Heart gives us some GREAT reasons to GET YOUR BUTT OUTSIDE. I’m not going to lie, I could get outside a lot more than I do. Especially now that it is December. However, it has also been a warm December. So I am thinking I need to get to it this weekend. Hit the trails or even just a walk in the neighborhood to check out all the Christmas lights up! ?
How to Live in the Present Moment >> I absolutely LOVE these tips from Jess over at Hello to Fit. You guys, I just adore Jess’s blog. I always enjoy heading over to her space to check out what type of insight and motivation she has to offer during the week. She is just the sweetest thing. ?
Advice for My 20 Year-Old Self >> Lee at Fit Foodie Finds shared a great post on some advice she would give her 20 year-old self. As I was reading the post I kept thinking to myself “Yup. Been there. Oh yup, that too. Ummm is this letter to MY 20 year-old self or to Lee’s?” #twinning, no joke. ?
So who is looking forward to the WEEKEND!?!?! Christmas shopping plans? HOLIDAY BAKING? Um, did you SEE this post that went up on Monday? If you’re looking for some cookie exchange recipe ideas, you seriously HAVE to check it out. Still drooling. ?
My hubby has been traveling all week (again) so I am looking forward to him getting home today and heading out to dinner tonight at our (my) favorite place for some early birthday celebrations (I get old on Monday). ?? Then Saturday we’ve got a game night with some friends. And Sunday I need to get my holiday hat on and make some gifts! That’s right, I said MAKE (i.e. this and this) 😉
Have a FANTASTIC Friday, friends.
