I thought I’d take today to have a little “virtual coffee chat” if you will, and just ramble away about some life happenings. Grab your morning cuppa!
Let’s have a coffee chat
If we were having coffee
I’d tell you that I can’t believe it’s been almost three weeks since the move back to Michigan. With the transition of living at our parents (still) I’m struggling a little bit. Again, super thankful we have a place to stay, but MAN do I miss being in a routine, hanging out with Drew and being in my own kitchen. I am ridiculously unfocused and I have all of these thoughts, ideas, plans, etc. in my head. I just can’t seem to get a good handle on things right now!
If we were having coffee
I’d have to admit that I may or may not be watching a little too much Netflix and binge watching OnDemand… Somehow after not watching any of New Girl this season, I am now caught up. And I am back to watching the second season of How to Get Away with Murder. Ummm do you watch that?! So addicting… it’s impossible NOT to watch two in a row, I mean for real.
If we were having coffee
I’d tell you that I miss driving in PA. I miss the hills and the winding roads. I miss being on the highway and actually being able to see the town below the road. In mid-Michigan, it’s rather flat and straight. It doesn’t make for the prettiest of drives. And there are still tons of pot holes. To my PA peeps, you thought your roads were bad? Just come on over the the Mitten state and we’ll show you what you’re missing.
If we were having coffee
I’d probably yell (in excitement) that I finally went to Whole Foods (!!) but I feel like I couldn’t fully enjoy it. I was in the middle of running some errands, and I was just there to take a quick look around and grab lunch so I just wasn’t fully IN THE ZONE ya know? But don’t worry, I’ll be back… Actually, please worry. Someone please come supervise so I don’t spend all of my money.
If we were having coffee
I’d tell you that I’m seriously SOOO excited to attend the virtual Food Entrepreneur Summit put on by Nicole Culver! Seriously, if you’re a food blogger, food entrepreneur, or online business person you should highly consider buying tickets for this event! So many bloggers and businesses I look up to are speakers and holding master classes. Fit Foodie Finds, The Healthy Maven, Cotter Crunch, Hummusapien, and Eating Bird Food just to name a few! 22 speakers and 20 classes with access to theses classes FOR-EV-ER, I can’t wait. Classes start May 31 and run through June 8, but tickets are on sale now. If you purchase before May 16, you can get special early bird pricing at 40% the standard ticket price! You seriously won’t want to miss it. If you have any questions I highly recommend checking out this page.
If we were having coffee
I’d say that as hard as it is for me to not have a good routine at the moment, I’m also trying to remind myself to enjoy the time I have with family. I’ve been training my little brother a bit (he plays soccer) as well as getting my little sister to do some workouts with me too. I also taught her how to make scones yesterday! 😀
what would you tell me if we were having coffee?
Linking up with Amanda this Thursday for Thinking Out Loud.

If we were having coffee I would tell you that I’m so happy for you that you’re adjusting to life back in Michigan, and that you’ll find your routine soon 🙂 Whole Foods is definitely a shopping experience, so you gotta go back and take your time hahaha stick to a list!
Ashley says
I will definitely go with a list and just browse longingly at the items that aren’t on my list 😉
rachel @ athletic avocado says
oh girl those scones are making my mouth water!!! Also I just came back from college and I actually missed the PA roads too! i love the pretty views that I drive past and all the farms.
Ashley says
YES you just don’t realize how lovely a place is until you have to leave it. Michigan has some gorgeous views up north though! Can’t wait to get that way this summer. 🙂
Erin @ The Almond Eater says
Omg you must go back to Whole Foods–yay for having one nearby! I agree PA is pretty to drive through because of all the hills…Ohio (where my dad lives) is rather flat and boring. You’ll be back in your routine soon enough, and by that point your sister will be the scone queen #2 😉
Ashley says
Ohiooooo so boring. :-p JK, I’ve only ever driven through it really. Eh I take that back, used to do Cedar Point quite a bit when I was younger! I need to make my sister my apprentice, I need all the help I can get right now! :-p

Ahh one of the hardest parts of moving is definitely getting used to being without those “little things” that make a home so special. Weirdly enough I really miss the radio djs I used ot listen to in the morning when I lived in New Jersey/Philly area. So excited you’re doing the summit. <3
Ashley says
It’s definitely been challenging for sure! And I can’t wait for the summit, it will be perfect timing for me once we get moved in to our new place and I can FOCUS finally <3
Susie @ Suzlyfe says
I know how you feel when the routine is ripped out from underneath you! I don’t know what I would do right now with my routine. Sometimes, I feel it is all that I’ve got!
Ashley says
Yes it is crazy how on top of life I feel when I have a routine. Trying to remind myself that it is temporary, and to also just relax and enjoy the time I have. It’s tough to find a balance!
Beverley @ Born to Sweat says
ooof that scone man. that looks frigging gooooood.
sorry to hear that you’re so out of your routine. it’s the worst feeling! haha and good for you with living with your parents. that would be the hardest part for me.
Ashley says
Lol, it’s definitely hard. :-p
Robin | CaliGirl Cooking says
I’m attending the Food Entrepreneur Summit as well! Can’t wait, such a great lineup!!
Ashley says
Ah YES so excited!!
Nicole @ Blunders and Absurdities Blog says
I’ve been having an off week too! Don’t think I’ve focused on work for more than thirty minutes at a time since Monday…also, I grew up in the Detroit area but currently live in Columbus, OH. I literally notice the roads get worse the second I cross the state line on trips home…too funny. Hope you make it back to Whole Foods with more time soon!
Ashley says
It really is terrible once you cross the line! It was like that from PA to Maryland too actually. And yes, def planning a “relaxing” trip to WF stat 😉 Thanks Nicole!

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that I totally understand your need for routine. When I take a long time to visit home with my little one, I love being around family but I totally get antsy about my regular daily thing. I’d also gab with you about your food photography because DUDE, I am still trying to get mine as good as yours and I never ever can!!!
Ashley says
YESS I knew you’d understand the routine thing. Almost therreeee. And omg you are rocking the food photography! I loved your asian salmon, that looks amazing. Feel free to hit me up if you have any particular questions! I am no pro, still learning always <3
Carmy says
Ha! I spent the last 3 days binge watching Netflix and Shomi!
